If you have a waste oil burner you should be aware of the changes in the law regarding their use. Since 1st April 2016, DEFRA (The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) ruled that SWOBs (Small Waste Oil Burners) now fall under Industrial Emissions Directive and as such are subject to the same level of regulation as waste incineration plants.
What does this mean for you?
To comply with the new law all waste oil burners must have a permit issued by local authorities. The initial application fee is £3218 with an ongoing annual fee of £1,384.
