Ballyvesey Holdings achieves significant carbon savings across the group thanks to new partnership with waste management specialist Slicker Recycling. Known for its wide range of transport and logistics services—including transport operations & services, vehicle distribution, vehicle rental, trailer manufacturing and construction equipment—the company has taken meaningful steps to reduce its carbon footprint with Slicker's innovative solutions for waste oil and workshop waste.
As the parent company to numerous well-known brands, including Montgomery Transport Group, Heathrow Truck Centre, Midlands Truck & Van, Sapphire Vehicle Services, Montracon, and West Pennine Trucks, Ballyvesey manages an extensive network of depots and distribution centres across the UK. Following an extensive tendering process, Slicker Recycling was awarded the contract to provide a comprehensive waste management service, including the collection of waste oil, workshop waste and general refuse across 57 Ballyvesey locations. In addition, Slicker will also be providing drainage and interceptor services, as well as supplying part washers.
Sustainability and excellent service are at the heart of Ballyvesey and Slicker Recycling’s partnership. Slicker leads the way in providing sustainable solutions for hazardous waste and waste oil management. Through their state-of-the-art facility, the 500,000 litres of used lubricating oil collected annually from Ballyvesey’s locations will be re-refined back into a high-quality base oil product, to be used again in the production of brand-new lubricating oil.
This approach enables Ballyvesey to support a sustainable circular economy by re-refining used oil into a valuable resource. Additionally, Slicker’s waste-oil-to-base-oil process is recognised by an independent Life Cycle Assessment study (LCA) as a highly carbon-efficient method when compared to alternative processing techniques. Ballyvesey will save over 92,000 kg of CO2 annually through Slicker’s re-refining approach - the equivalent amount of carbon absorbed by 3,600 trees each year!
“Throughout the tendering process, we were impressed by the focus demonstrated by Slicker to reduce our carbon footprint. We look forward to seeing the results”. comments David Craig, Group Procurement Manager at Ballyvesey Holdings.
“In addition, Slicker’s comprehensive service package has allowed us to streamline operations by consolidating our supply chain.”
“We have been impressed with the implementation of Slicker’s services during a busy period and look forward to growing the partnership over the months ahead”
Lexi Knott, Account Manager at Slicker Recycling has said, “The Slicker team and I are excited to collaborate closely with Ballyvesey, forging strong and lasting relationships. By gaining deeper insights into their operations, we aim to deliver additional efficiencies, streamline collections, achieve greater carbon reductions, and drive enhanced financial savings.”
